The Montessori bell cylinder can be offered to infants as soon as they are engaging in purposeful grasping, around 6-8 months. Infants love grasping onto this toy and learning to change it between their hands. As they move, they notice the jingling of the bell. Soon, they are able to cause the bell to jingle on purpose. When they are ready to begin crawling, the bell cylinder is a wonderful toy to entice them to move forward. They love crawling to this toy, ‘catching’ it, and jingling it with pride!
